Just as we all know that cookies, pizza, rolls with butter, apple cobbler and Whitman’s samplers are going to put the weight on us, we should also know that there are foods that promote weight loss. When planning your menus for the coming months, consider the following foods as staples in your diet.
Start off with salmon. It’s best to make sure it’s wild salmon, preferably red salmon from the northwest Pacific and not the pink stuff, although pink salmon is better than most other fish. The omega 3 oils found in this wild salmon is a wonderful miracle oil for your body and helps jump start your weight loss. If you absolutely can’t stand the taste of salmon, try some Alaska Pollock, it’s a not so oily white fish that not quite to “fishy” tasting, or you can go with some fish oil pills in your diet. It’s important to get the oils that your body simply can’t produce on its own. Another food moving to the forefront of your diet again is the incredible edible egg. For years, it went out of fashion because of the cholesterol levels. But, studies today are showing that a breakfast that is rich in eggs and protein will stave off hunger more than one that is rich in carbohydrates. Starting the day off with a good hunger-fighting breakfast is the first step in weight loss success.
The third food that does a body well is peanuts. Now, before you go crazy on me, forget for a moment that they are seemingly high in fat and calories. Studies are showing that a small helping of these Georgia goobers will discourage weight gain. The reasoning is that the healthy oils in these peanuts are easier to burn off than the unhealthy fats like those found in chocolate cake and Lay’s potato chips. To go with those peanuts for a healthy snack, add an apple. While we’ve said for years that ‘an apple a day will keep the doctor away’, they will also help keep the fat away. The great thing about apples is that they are full of fiber and low and calories. That translates to more filling more weight loss.
